South East England

Circles South east logoOne of two early pilot projects funded by the government, Circles South East (formerly HTV Circles) launched in 2008 as an independent charitable company.  The project is now funded by our statutory partners and a number of charitable trusts and foundations.

Circles South East works in partnership with Police and Probation services in the Thames Valley, Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London areas, operating as a public protection agency with and for those communities.  We take a holistic approach to tackling sexual crime, helping offenders to reintegrate safely into the community, reducing the risk of their sexually offending.  This is achieved via the use of trained and supervised groups of volunteers who bridge the gap between communities, the offender and professional agencies so that offenders can be managed safely.  The work of Circles empowers communities, reducing the potential of conflict, exclusion and discrimination.

In our many years of operations, and approaching the setting up of our four hundredth Circle, it attests to the method that only one offender has been convicted of a further sexual offence.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like some more information then please contact Circles South East. Besides the Circles, provided in accordance with the national standards set by Circles UK, service  provider to the Ministry of Justice,  the project additionally provides free counselling services to offenders, delivers professional training and consultancy to fellow professionals, and a programme for non-abusing partners of sexual offenders, “Breaking the Cycle”. We provide a Youth Project for young people displaying harmful sexual behaviour, as well as free counselling and Thrive Group services specifically for survivors of sexual abuse and the non-abusing partners of men who have sexually abused. Thrive groups are essentially groups of volunteers trained to assist survivors overcome residual psychological symptoms of sexual harm, a service we believe to be unique.
