Part of Circles UK’s purpose is to affect the quality of the debate in society and to ensure ‘more light than heat’ in discussions as to better managing those returning to our communities deemed most at risk of reoffending.

Donations and legacies left to Circles UK are absolutely vital to our work. They enable us to do our work to prevent further victims of sexual abuse and help keep communities safe.

What kind of gift can I leave to Circles UK in my will?
• A residuary gift is a percentage of your estate once any specified gifts have been made to others. Many people choose to leave this type of gift because its value will be dependent on the value of your estate at any given time.
• A pecuniary gift is a specific amount of money.
• A specific gift is a gift of a specified item – such as a personal possession, land, buildings or stocks and shares.

How do I get started? Making a will might seem daunting, and it could be something you’ve been putting off. However, it’s the best way to make sure your wishes are carried out after you die. There are organisations that offer help to make a will for free or for a nominal fee. Alternatively, you can contact a solicitor.

Is there any suggested wording I should use to add a gift to Circles UK in my will? This suggested wording will assist your solicitor to include your gift to help our vital work.

Example wording for a residuary gift

I give the residue of my estate to Circles UK, Abbey House, Abbey Square, Reading, RG1 3BE (Registered Charity Number 1122641) for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer of the said charity for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.

Example wording for a gift of money or an item

I give the sum of £_____ (or the item specified) to Circles UK, Abbey House, Abbey Square, Reading, RG1 3BE (Registered Charity Number 1122641) for its general charitable purposes.
